Hollandite-type alpha-MnO2 and its metal-doped K-y (Mn0.88M0.12)O-2 (y=0.08 similar to 0.12 - M=Co or Fe), synthesized by an aqueous solution technique, have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, N-2-sorptmetric and electrical conductivity measurements, and their lithium insertion behaviors have been examined by an electrochemical transient method.
