Food safety issues will take top priority during the upcoming Florida tomato season, according to Reggie Brown, manager of the Florida Tomato Committee. In an interview following the 2008 Florida Tomato Conference, held Sept. 2-7 in Naples, Fla., Brown said an aggressive effort to be pro-active in the food safety area is at the top of the list of what the industry needs to do to help ensure a more profitable year.
