Moringa oleifera - The emerging medicinal plant of Ayurveda

Moringa oleifera Lamk. syn. M. pterygosperma Gaertn. (Moringaceae), is an emerging medicinal plant, commonly known as Shigru or Sahajan. AU parts of the plant have medicinal value and are used as drug for the treatment of various diseases and ailments. The details of the plant description, distribution, vernacular names, propagation, pharmacognosy, physical constants, chemical constituents, bioactivity, uses in folk and traditional medicine and others have been described in this paper.
