The present study was undertaken to examine the variations in total alkaloids and phenols during different seasons (rainy, winter and summer) in two important medicinal species of genus Withania, viz. W. coagulans and W. somnifera from arid region of the Indian Thar Desert. Results revealed that in both species the maximum and minimum accumulation of total alkaloids and phenols occurred during summer, and rainy season, respectively.
