Although computer usage can actually lessen our environmental footprint (telecommuting instead of driving to work, sending emails rather than letters), the energy consumption that accompanies the use of computers is massive. Computers in the workplace are responsible for about 40% of the utility bill, meaning they contribute to greenhouse gas emissions as well as affect a company's bottom line.
