Americhem, a leader in custom color and additive solutions for polymer-based and synthetic fiber products, has made it a central focus to reduce its carbon footprint by decreasing emissions and energy use, by implementing a rigorous recycling program and by eliminating the use of CO2 at all of its facilities while shifting to the use of liquid nitrogen. "By switching over to liquid nitrogen as our primary coolant, we reduce CO2 emissions, use a third less overall coolant and help reduce internal costs," said Jim Cook, plant manager at Americhem's Concord facility.
