West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin's proposed 2007 mine safety bill - adding details and depth to the state's current mine safety law - is expected to be taken up next week in the state Legislature's Senate Finance Committee, according to the West Virginia Coal Association. With strong backing in both chambers, the bill is expected to pass easily. "The anticipation is that it moves forward," WVCA President Bill Raney told Platts last week. "The House is sitting and waiting on the Senate bill."
