摘要

The pressure actually borne by particles in compressed powders (viz. the effective pressure, P_E), is known to exceed the externally applied pressure, P_A. Because forces are transmitted through contacts between particles, the pressure actually borne depends on the contact area. The pressure can reach extremely high values at point contacts. The contact area between particles increases, and the pressure they bear decreases, with increasing densilication.
