摘要

Rapid prototyping (RP) is fundamentally a unique method of fabrication where the object is manufactured from a CAD model by direct numerical control. It involves adding raw material successively to create a solid of some predefined shape. A distinct advantage of creating a part layer-by-layer is that the geometric complexity of the part has significantly less impact on the fabrication process than in the case of traditional subtractive manufacturing processes [1].
