Fillers have been widely used in polymer materials for several decades. It is well established that the source and size of inorganic filler and the interaction between the filler particle and polymeric matrix will affect the structure and mechanical properties of the composites [1-3]. Inorganic substances are the main filler materials employed during the past decades. However, with an increasing interest in biodegradable polymers, more natural biopolymers such as starch, cellulose, lignin and chitin are being incorporated in the development of new biodegradable products [4-6].
