摘要

In engineering ceramics, the materials of SiC, A12O3, ZrO2, Si3N4 and so on have been developed quickly. Mullite ceramic and mullite-based ceramic-matrix composites, due to their excellent chemical durability, thermal shock resistance, low density and thermal expansion coefficient, and especially their high strength up to 1371 °C [1], have also been extensively studied in recent years [2-5], In this letter, the mechanical properties of SiCw/mullite composites doped with LAS (Li2O:8.8, A12O3:13.8, SiO2 71.0, MgO:2.4 (mole ratio) [6]) glass-ceramic were studied. The main purpose of introducing LAS glass-ceramic into the matrix is to produce dense SiCw/mullite composites with high strength and fracture toughness at lower sintering temperature.
