Anderson takes issue with several statements made in a recent article (Coller-son and Weisler 2007) The word limit for this reply dictates that I focus on only a few of his comments Through rigorous geochemical analysis using major oxides, trace elements, and three isotope systems, then demonstrating artifact attribution with 22 geochemical plots sensitive to petrogenetic principles, an adze (C7727) collected by the renowned Polynesian anthropologist Kenneth Emory on Napuka, northwest Tuamotu Archipelago was assigned to a source in the Hawaiian Islands (Collerson and Weisler 2007) This is the only instance of adze-quality rock from the Hawaiian Islands carried to central East Polynesia during prehistory.
