摘要

Densification behaviour of powder compactsduring pressure-assisted compaction at an elevated temperaturewas investigated based on power-law creep. A constitutiveequation for power-law creep which satisfies the uniaxial stresscondition is proposed based on the plastic deformation theoryfor porous materials. The proposed power-law creep model iscompared with Shima and Oyane's model and Kim and Jeon'smodel. Experimental data generated by hot isostatic pressing of316 stainless steel powder compacts at a temperature of 1125deg C under different pressures were compared with calculatedresults using the proposed constitutive model. The differencebetween the calculated results and the experimental values wasdiscussed in conjunction with Ashby's densificationmechanism map or HIP diagram.
