Santa Mart a Harbor receives award for reducing coal dust at the bay

Kurt Nagle, president of the American Association of Harbor Authorities (AAPA) recognized Santa Mafta Harbor among other ports in America, "for reducing dust at the bay while managing to continue exporting coal and simultaneously to mainpulate it in an environmentally friendly way." Since 2003, the Santa Marta Harbor Society and Carbosan, the operator of the coal wharf, have removed more than 8.0 million tonnes of coal dust. However, the polluting particles have been reduced by 23 percent overall, the AAPA said.
