Eleven insecticides namely acephate 75 SP, acetamiprid 20 SP, buprofezin 25 SC, carbaryl 50 WP, clothianidin 50 WDG, dinotefuran 20 SG , ethlprole+imidacloprid 80 WG, fipronil 5 SC, imidacloprid 17.8 SL, monocrotophos 36SL and thiamethoxam 25 WG wereevaluated against brown plant hopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens under glasshouse condition during 2011 and 2012. All the insecticides reduced the BPH population significantly after first and second spray The knockdown period was shortest in dinotefuran 20SG and monocrotophos 36 SL during both the years, however, after 72 hr, most of the insecticides showed higher efficacy except acetamiprid 20 SP.
