Verification of friction and wear models for adequacy against rail-wheel contact spots

摘要

This paper presents and justifies equations for relatively simple and sufficiently accurate calculation of the tangential stress distribution and the wear rate on the rail-wheel contact spot when the spot shape and pressure profile on it are the assigned arbitrarily. The equations are extended to elastic contact of any bodies, which execute different relative motion.
