Grande Cache is performing better, but a strong Canadian dollar hurts the bottom line

Grande Cache Coal has completed its contract negotiations for fiscal 2008 and expects to ship between 1.8 to 2.0 million tonnes, "contingent upon adequate rail service and shipping." During the first quarter, Grande Cache sold 0.42 million tonnes of coal at an average price of 95.00/tonne, generating revenue of 39.9 million. The company posted a net loss of 1.2 million in the first quarter, compared to a net loss of 4.7 million in the same period last year.
