摘要

Concern is rising about the surge of terrorist attacks in Colombia and how these attacks could stain the world's perception of Colombia as a highly reliable international coal supplier. Earlier this month, terrorists exploded a bomb on a section of Cerrejon's 150 kilometer long rail line, which transports coal from the mine to Puerto Bolivar. Fortunately the explosion didn't injure anyone or halt rail traffic for a lengthy period of time. However, the attack is just the latest of several attacks carried out against coal producers this year. "There is a lot of worry here in Colombia about the increase in terrorist attacks," a source in Bogota told Coal Americas. "Under President Alvaro Uribe the terrorist organizations were beaten back and broken. We made so much progress and now it seems like the country is going backward."
