摘要

Zinc concentrations were examined in different organs of the Indian, white shrimp, Fenneropenaeus indicus in different stages of gonadal maturation, as zinc constitutes an important trace mineral. Wild specimen of E indicus collected, and identified according to their stages (I-FV) by visual examination. Zinc concentration was examined in all the and the result of the present study showed increase in zinc concentration during ovarian maturation. Gill had highest zinc concentration followed by hepatopancreas, ovary and least in muscle and exoskeleton. During gonadal maturation, zinc concentration increased significantly (p<0.01) in all the organs and reached maximum at stage IV of the ovary. High levels of zinc observed in the present study relates to the high efficiency of metabolic reactions undergoing during embryogenesis.
