This book, Motherhood, the elephant in the laboratory: women scientists speak out, pro-vides the reader many valuable insights to a specific component of that often askedquestion of the post-feminist era: can a woman have a career and a family and be suc-cessful at both? The author Emily Monosson, herself a PhD toxicologist, has compiled aseries of autobiographical life stories written by women like her who have tried to "have itall". Some have succeeded, some have not, some are bitter, some are happy, but all have aninteresting story to tell. Although this is not the usual academic book filled with facts,statistics and theories, it provides the reader with a helpful perspective, much like a supportgroup, of many others who have walked a similar path.
