Faith community nursing: meeting the needs of seniors.

The nature of aging in our society has changed dramatically in the past 25 years. Factors contributing to the change include an increase in life expectancy, advancements in healthcare, and changes in the traditional family structure. Although the majority of seniors in the United States live in the community, some struggle to access needed programs and services. Trends in the sociopolitical climate have resulted in cuts to senior services and programs resulting in greater challenges for those accessing services. Lack of accessibility often leads to increased isolation for elderly and disabled individuals.
