The needs assessment comprises 4 components: (1) customer requirements/expectations, (2) industry trends and changes in technology, (3) strategic plans and business initiatives, and (4) staff requests.Customer Requirements/Expectations Customer expectations and requirements are the most important component to determine the training requirement of biomedical/clinical staff. For example, for certain types of equipment (patient monitors, vital signs monitors, etc), hospitals may require that biomedicai support be available at all times. This would require the staff to be trained on a certain type of equipment to perform complete service or at least provide first-call.
