Refractive error and age-related lipofuscin accumulation-mediated retinal phototoxicity.

In their article, Carson et al. concluded that retinal phototoxicity significantly increased with age. Moreover, they stated that retinal phototoxicity is also influenced by the intraocular lens (IOL) type and the light sources used. We want to discuss the role of another possible determinant factor; namely, the refractive error in age-related lipofuscin accumulation-mediated retinal phototoxicity.
