Rich in innovative technological resources, American health care today possesses an unprecedented amount of talent in subspecialty medicine. Yet, it is well recognized that our health care system significantly lags behind other industrialized countries in tangible outcomes. Many patients with chronic disease face fundamental hurdles in attempting to consolidate and efficiently communicate health information to their medical providers, physicians, and loved ones. While strength of expertise is what distinguishes American health care from its competitors, it is the fractured communication system that plagues our outcomes, impedes progress, and prevents patient satisfaction.
