Although handling electrode catheters and not caissons (hopefully), the imagery inspired by this patriotic paean reminds us of the tactile sensations often experienced by the ablationist during catheter manipulation for ablation of typical atrial flutter. The relatively high prevalence of this tachycardia, the favorable overall ablation success rate, and the interindividual anatomic variability of the preferred ablation substrate, the cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI), have made typical atrial flutter the subject of enormous clinical interest and investigation.
