Recently, immediate-release oral methylphenidate was re-ported to be efficacious and safe for treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in preschool children (Greenhill et al. 2006; Ghuman et al. 2008, 2009). However difficulty with swallowing pills mav hinder treatment adherence especially m preschool children (Ghuman et al. 2004; Beck et al. 2005). A diffusion-based transdermal drag delivery route as used in the dl-methylphenidate transdermal system (MTS) patch provides an alternative to oral administration and may promote increased treatment compliance. Preschoolers are known to have high rates of adverse events (AEs) with stimulant treatment (Wigal et al 2006' Ghuman et al. 2008, 2009).
