The Southeast region's logistics infrastructure is a lure for manufacturing. The Southeast United States has the right combination of site-location factors for a successful expansion or relocation. Numerous ports on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, plus highways and railroads, allow for an efficient distribution of cargo to most of the nation. The region's workforce has become highly skilled, with most states offering training programs and generous incentives and tax credits to offset their costs. States also offer other incentives, and business-friendly tax and regulatory policies that help balance the cost of relocating and doing business. These factors have helped drive expansion and relocations of companies in a number of industries to the Southeast.
