Japanese mini-mills raise domestic flats prices, integrateds cut theirs

Recovery of domestic demand for flats is gathering pace in Japan owing to improving situation in car production among other reasons. However, suppliers move their prices in different directions. In particular, electric steelmakers (including Tokyo Steel) have lifted domestic prices for April sheets and coils by $24/t (JPY 2/kg, $1 = JPY 83.53) week-on-week, despite the fact that scrap quotations have ceased falling.
