Suppliers cannot dictate prices on thin demand in Turkish plate market

Amid steadily thin business in the plate market of Turkey, both local and overseas sellers are not in a hurry to liftprices. Though sellers hoped they would be able to move their offers upwards earlier, even current quotation arebarely attractive to domestic customers that mostly replenished their stocks more than a month ago and are nowbuying only to satisfy their immediate needs. Furthermore, the fact that in the secondary market there is enough exstockmaterial from Ukraine and Europe (including second grade) purchased at much lower prices than that producedin new months (at least by $70/t) does not stimulate demand. As a result, there are no signs that buying activity in theplate segment will improve shortly.
