USA: rebar producers keep making cuts, wire rod ones hold prices

US longs market is still seeing no signs of business recovery amid stabilized scrap prices and their expected drop byJune. However, end-users’ demand has much more significant impact on the market situation: construction activityremains slack. In this situation local rebar producers have cut transaction prices by $22-28/t ($20-25/short ton) in aweek. At the same time, suppliers of wire rod are in a better position as strong demand from car makers and engineeringcompanies allows them to hold prices.
