Japanese mills increase crude steel production in May

Japan Iron and Steel Federation notes increased production in May. Thus, pig iron output grew by 1.1% y-o-y and 2.3% m-o-m, to 6.84 mt; crude steel output rose by 2% and 1.7%, respectively, to 9.22 mt. Production rates in the finished product segment have also grown compared to April levels.
