Welcome to the first issue of the 2013 volume of the Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology (JAST). Since its launch in 1987, under the guidance of Professor W. van Ooij and Dr K.L. Mittal, JAST has provided a forum for scientists to share their research in all areas of adhesion and adhesives. Articles in the journal considered industrial applications as well as basic and applied studies in joints. The dedication and efforts made by the Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board have made JAST one of the key journals in adhesion science. Now, as I take the helm as Editor-in-Chief, it seems the ideal time to take the Journal in a new direction.
