In the past the Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology (JAST) has published a number of topical or thematic issues and these have been received warmly with much interest by the readership. This Special Issue entitled 'Adhesion, Surface Preparation and Adhesive Properties' is based on selected papers presented at the Special Session on 'Adhesive Bonding' held at the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Computational Engineering and Experimenting (ACE-X 2009) meeting held in Rome, Italy, June 22-23, 2009.
