Restoring Flight 1549

January 15, 2009, started off just like any other day for Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and his US Airways flight crew. Flight 1549 departed LaGuardia Airport that morning en route to Charlotte, N.C. Everything changed when the Airbus A-320 collided with a flock of Canada geese during takeoff. Both engines were lost immediately and the flight was forced to land in the icy, murky Hudson River. All 155 passengers and crewmembers safely evacuated the aircraft. Until this flight, no airliner had successfully forced a landing without any casualties.
