Inocellia elegans sp. n. (Raphidioptera, Inocelliidae) - A new and spectacular snakefly from China

A new snakefly species of Inocelliidae, Inocellia elegans sp. n., from Guizhou Province, China, is described and illustrated, The appearance of this species is rather spectacular and differs from all other known species of Raphidioptera by the pigmented wings. The systematic position of this species is discussed. The snakefly genus Inocellia Schneider, 1843 is the largest genus of the family Inocelliidae. It is widespread in the Palaearctic region and the transgressional areas between eastern Palaearctic and northern part of Oriental regions. The genus is characterized by the stylus on the subdistal portion of the male ninth gonocoxite, the bristle tufts on the inner side of the male ninth gonocoxite and the endophallus, and the feebly sclerotized foliate pseudostyli (basal parts of the gonapophyses 9).
