摘要

Mungbean or greengram (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) is an importation zaid and kharif pulse legume crop. It require slight hot climate and has the capacity to survive in moisture stress conditions. Legume Rhizobium symbiosis is a mutually beneficial association between micro-organization and legume plant Rhizobia, which are non-pathogenic soil bacteria enter the root of a legume plant. Mungbean is an excellent source of high quality protein, carbohydrates, fat and vitamins; therefore, a pot experiment was conducted to find out the variation in biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) ability of mungbean Rhizobium. Cultivar viz., K-851, Pusa Baisakhi, T-l and T-44 were used for screened out to their interaction with Rhizobium leguminosarum for biological nitrogen fixing ability and formation of root nodules. Seeds of these cultivar were pre-inoculated with R. leguminosarum and are grown in soil of unsterilized and sterilized pots. Cultivar Pusa Baisakhi exhibited higher maximum number of nodule weight and dry weight and plant weight/plants.
