Spermatophore regeneration in pond reared Penaeus monodon fabricius

The duration of spermatophore regeneration in pond-reared Penaeus monodon was examined at the Eastern Marine Fisheries Development Centre (Rayong province, Thailand). Spermatophore weight and number of normal active spermatozoa showed no decline after repeated electroejaculation. Matured spermatophores regenerated within 8-15 days after previous electroejaculation. It is suggested that spermatophore regeneration is correlated with ecdysis.
