Flow-injection determination of trace antimony in natural waters with extraction-chromatographic preconcentration

A procedure was developed for the flow-injection spectrophotometric determination of trace antimony in natural waters. The flow extraction preconcentration step involved the extraction of antimony(V) complex associates with basic dyes in an extraction-chromatographic column and the chromatomembrane separation of the extract from the aqueous phase. The detection limit was 1 mug/L for a 20-mL sample using a (1 : 5) methyl isobutyl ketone-carbon tetrachloride mixture as an extractant.
