Effective Classification of Blue Ballpoint Pen Inks with Fourier Transform Infrared Microscope

摘要

FTIR microscopy was employed to discriminate 152 blue ballpoint pen inks collected randomly from different markets in Beijing, China. At least triple-tests were performed for each sample. The results indicated that FTIR microscopy could effectively discriminate the ink samples. No sample pretreatment was required and only 1-2 minutes were needed for each sample in the optimized method. The method has been proved to be fast, accurate and could be applied to the real cases. The primary survey on inks from different markets was conducted and twenty-two kinds of inks could be identified. The indicative peaks of each kind of ink were summarized. The distributions of the inks in markets were also illustrated. The data in this study would be helpful for the forensic scientists to identify these inks and examine the questioned documents.
