摘要

Physico-chemical characterisation of atmospheric aerosol is achieved using a large number of different instruments and methods,the majority of them being indirect.Particle size is determined through optical or micro-physical properties (e.g.scattering of light or aerodynamic properties).Therefore aerosol size and concentration is dependent on whether and/or how those properties are used to obtain realistic aerosol spectra.Moreover,different instruments must be used to measure different aerosol sizes,which span up to four orders of magnitude in size.Hence,aerosol number concentration measurements suffer from the fact that it is often difficult to obtain comparable results from different instruments.
