Acta Metallurgica has announced the 1996 winners of two of its most prestigious awards-the J. Herbert Holiomon Award and the Gold Medal. The awards will be presented in Cincinnati, Ohio, during Materials Week '96. The seventh annual. Acta Metallurgica J. Herbert Holiomon Award has been awarded to Albert R.C. West-wood, vice president of research and exploratory technology at Sandia National Laboratories. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to understanding the relations between materials technology and society and/or contributions to materials technology that have a major impact on society.
