摘要

Imagine a high school student who likes science and solving problems. She meets with her school guidance counselor, who suggests a career in engineering. But engineering is a broad field. Will the student study mechanical or electrical engineering? Materials or civil engineering? And how much higher education will she need? Is a bachelor's degree sufficient or do some fields require a master's degree? What kinds of science and technology jobs are open to someone with an associate's degree? The options available to a student with an interest in science or technology can be overwhelming. What students need is the opportunity to explore all of their potential career options and determine which one is the best fit for them, according to Joanne Van Voor-his, operations director for the Sloan Career Cornerstone Center, a web site that compiles information on career options in the science, math, technology, engineering, and medical fields.
