Global jet fuel demand is receding in 2012. Consumption in a group of representative countries fell by 0.7% in March and showed similar shrinkage in the first quarter. Among industrialized nations, the March declines in the US and Europe offset a jump of nearly 10% in Japan and a 6.5% gain in Canada. The four largest European markets were down by 4.5% due to a drop of more than 9% in Italy, where austerity measures have reduced jet fuel liftings.
