摘要

North American jet fuel demand got off to a slow start in 2011, with sharply higher winter fuel prices forcing many of the region's carriers to trim capacity. Snow storms also forced the cancellation of a large number of US flights. The 0.7% drop in overall US demand masked higher liftings everywhere except the US Gulf Coast, which saw jet demand plummet by one third. The Gulf Coast region also saw the biggest increase in jet fuel prices in January after a large-scale movement of fuel up the Colonial Pipeline to the northeast of the country. Jet fuel consumption in the US, Canada and Mexico fell by 0.8% in January versus last year. Canadian usage fell 0.5% in January, while Mexican demand slumped over 3% in the wake of Mexicana's bankruptcy.
