North American jet fuel demand scored a 6% spike during the peak August travel period to 2.1 million barrels per day. Airports along the Gulf Coast spurred most of the upturn, particularly Dallas Love Field, where Southwest Airlines has been adding services since the scrapping of flight restrictions in 2014. Gulf Coast deliveries jumped by 43%, which could also include brisk export flows out of Texas ports. Canadian usage surged by 15% as airlines added long-haul flights. Mexico's demand growth weakened to 4% and is expected to remain constrained following the cancellation of the new Mexico City Airport.
