US aircraft manufacturer Boeing has teamed up with Brazilian plane maker Embraer to establish a joint research center aimed at advancing a sustainable aviation biofuel industry in the world’s biggest sugarcane-producing country. In a May 12 statement, Boeing said the two companies would perform joint biofuel research, focusing on technologies that address current gaps in the supply chain in Brazil, such as feedstock production and processing technologies, as well as fund and coordinate research with Brazilian universities and other institutions.
