The potential bankruptcy of Kior, one of the two firms that started producing inaugural volumes last year, has delivered a blow to the fledging US cellulosic biofuel industry. Kior produces fuels from woody biomass at its facility in Columbus, Mississippi, and had hoped to add another unit on the same site. Cellulosic feedstocks and processes are considered an important pathway for eventual production of biojet fuel.
