Global Demand Trends: Robust Air Traffic Sustains Growth

Robust air traffic from lower airfares sustained the strong growth in global jet fuel demand seen in February. Consumption in a group of representative countries climbed 4.3% to some 3.2 million b/d. Major industrialized countries spurred most of the gain, with demand in the big US market up 6% and even stronger year-on-year growth rates seen in Japan and Australia/New Zealand. Demand climbed 3.7% in Europe’s four largest markets amid buoyant liftings in the UK, Germany and Italy.
