Vitol Aviation has finally landed in Europe. The new intowing supplier is now present at six hub and regional airports - with six more planned for next year. Vitol Aviation General Manager Toby Davies tells JFI that Vitol's aviation subsidiary is currently supplying "around 1 million cubes," (795,000 metric tons) a year in bulk to airport and into-wing across Europe, with its market "accelerating by the day." That is on top of the more than 1 million tons/yr business it is doing in the US, where Vitol Aviation operates in tandem with Vitol-owned Pacific Fuel Trading Corp. (PFTC) (JFI Nov.23,p1). Davies spoke to JFI ahead of the Nov. 9-11 International Air Transport Association (IATA) Aviation Fuel Forum in Prague, at which Vitol Aviation is the lead sponsor. Vitol Aviation is now offering into-wing fuel at Frankfurt, Brussels, Luxembourg, Liege, Stansted and Manchester airports in Europe. On Davies' target list for next year are Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris' Charles de Gaulle, Munich, Vienna and Zurich. The company is clearly targeting high-volume airports. "We won't go into the smaller locations," Davies explains: "We're not interested in marketing for marketing sake; we will only market where we can add value to the end-user." And the Swiss-based trading company has big ambitions for its intowing business. "In three or four years' time, we expect to be the size of the existing players, and more," says Davies.
