Over the past five years, the market for ultra-class trucks has been the fastest growing truck sector, according to a recent report from IntierraRMG. The market for ultra-class trucks began in 1996 when Komatsu delivered the first of its model 930E units. Since then, these largest of trucks have become emblematic of the mining industry's drive to capture economies of large-scale production at the world's biggest surface mines, says the report. The 930E (with a 290 t payload capacity) remains a favourite for many of these large mines, but has been superseded, at least in size, by haulers with payloads of 327 - 3631.
